My First Blog Post!

Hello! My name is Kylee Colbert and I am 22. I’m from Fairbanks, Alaska but I live in Las Vegas, Nevada right now and I often visit Fairbanks because most of my family still lives up there. I am in school majoring in psychology and minoring in business and have been doing online schooling for UAF. I’ve always been involved in the arts, whether that’s creating art or exploring different forms of art. Some of my favorite things to do include going to the gym, late night drives, training my puppy, and watching conspiracy theory videos.

I’ve always thought that music is very important to humans, almost like some sort of innate, human trait. I remember being shocked when a couple of my friends from school told me that they don’t really listen to music and that they’re indifferent to it. I realized that I use music for not only an outlet but also for everything I do. I pick songs and playlists for specific tasks or events no matter how small they are, and I often use music during times when I feel socially anxious. I used to play the violin and piano but that was in middle and high school. I would love to go to concerts more because I haven’t really had the opportunity to go to that many, but if I could I would definitely see some of my favorite rappers and R&B singers like Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, Kehlani, H.E.R, Sabrina Claudio and Daniel Caesar. I mostly listen to rap, R&B, and early 2000s music that I grew up listening to. Living in Vegas, there’s a ton of amazing opportunities to go see my favorite artists in person but they’re usually too expensive to see so I’ll stick with my music videos for now.
